Sustainability in Education

Relevance:

Our world is facing several challenges including climate change, environmental pollution, poverty and inequal rights and health and education. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (UN) addresses these issues.

As teachers we can contribute to the Agenda by preparing children for these challenges and to give them guidelines how they can react on these issues, as the individuals together have the force to make changes. But also, we have to call their attention, that active participation in local community life may contribute to a better life for all.

The course is for those:

  • Who are willing to learn about the challenges our world is facing.
  • Who want to learn how to change teachers’ and students’ mindset to make a more sustainable world.
  • Who want to actively contribute to the changes.

  Group number:

  • minimum: 7 person
  • maximum: 20 person

Planned courses and registration deadline:

  • 2025 April – May
  • Deadline: 2025 March

The course is planned to be implemented in 10 days. If you would like to participate a 5-day course, please contact us, we are open to arrange a shorter version for you!

Topic:

The course focuses on raising the awareness of the participants for the sustainable development, developing their personal skills, providing additional knowledge and new methodological approaches.

A detailed introduction of sustainability will focus the attention of the participants on the problem, also giving guidelines on solutions and practical examples.

Acting for a more sustainable world must be started as early as possible, and in this, schools and teachers have a great responsibility by being a role model for the children, and by raising their awareness for the problem.

Learning outcomes:

  • By the end of the training, participants get a deeper understanding about sustainability and sustainable development;
  • Will be able to identify the points where they can integrate the topic in their curricula.
  • Will be familiar with effective solutions, schools and programmes;
  • Will develop their methodological repertoire;
  • Will collect new ideas, best practices.

Why choose this course?

  • Our trainers gained extensive knowledge and practice in the topic, e.g.: their research area is sustainability in sports and education.
  • The course relies highly on the experience, knowledge and activity of participants.
  • The training will be fine-tuned according to the participants’ needs and interest which will be collected via questionnaires.
  • We give focus on personal skill development. We work on the themes using sensitizing exercises, group and pair work, brainstorming, structured exercises, role plays, case discussions, co-counselling situations and reflective techniques and exercises.
  • We intend to create a mutual and co-counselling learning situation.
